HISTORY DAY 2008
“COMPROMISE AND CONFLICT”

History Day Projects

This year’s 2008 History Day projects were displayed in Mercy Hall Lower Level on February 28th.   Parents, students, teachers, and administrators were invited to see the great work accomplished by the 7th grade students from our Middle School.

Amanda Crausman was selected to represent Rhode Island at the National History Day Competition on June 15-19 at the University of Maryland.

“Compromise and Conflict” was the theme in which the girls had to work alone, or with a partner, to design a display explaining how their topic of choice worked into this theme.   This was no easy feat.   Topics varied from Gandhi, The Boston Tea Party, Tiananmen Square, Global Warming, Treaty of Versailles, Rosa Parks, Salem Witch Trials, and even Title IX.   The parents were very impressed with the girls’ hard work and knowledge of their subjects.

The competition included an exhibit as well as a process paper.   The students made classroom presentations and were judged by the High School history teachers, according to the National History Day criteria.

This year’s winners and alternates are:
