Robin Chauvin Klein’74 Basketball, Softball, Track and Field, Volleyball, Field Hockey
Robin was 2nd team all-state in basketball and received a varsity letter in basketball – one of the first Bay View had given in a number of years. At the Explorer Olympics in Colorado she led the basketball team to a gold medal in 1972 and 1974. She was also on the silver medal winning volleyball team. Most believe that Robin much preferred the physical sport of basketball – which, at that time, was a non-contact sport! In track and field Robin specialized in the softball throw. In 1974 Robin set a state record in the softball throw that remains, to this day – mostly because the event was retired that year. Robin went to Michigan State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Systems Management and was a founding member of the MSU women’s rugby team. She went on to earn another degree in Radiologic Technology from Wright College in Chicago. She is currently an x-ray tech/orthopaedic tech for the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute. She still plays and coaches softball. She has retired as a soccer referee and has coached her children, now 23 and 19, in softball, basketball and soccer. She is also into reading, knitting and watching the Bears, Sox…White Sox, that is…and Bulls.

Michelle “Mimi” Tougas Leduc ’84 Softball, Basketball, Track and Field
In her freshman year Mimi was the softball MVP, played JV basketball and track and field. In her sophomore year she was selected all division MVP in softball. She also did javelin, high jump, shot put and discus in track and field and was convinced by Del Malloy to become the Cross Country manager. Said Mimi: “He did this so I would run and keep in shape for basketball. I was NOT built for running – he would put me in basketball games and tell me to move some bodies around – I WAS built for that! In her junior year Mimi was 4th pick all-state and all-division first team with 9 homers and a .459 average. The basketball team was division champs and she made 2nd honors academic for track and field. In 1984 – her senior year – the baseball team became state champions with a 17-0 record (Bay View’s first-ever state championship) and Mimi was selected 1st pick All-State with a season .565 batting average and .700 average in the playoffs. Del Malloy Athletic Director
Most of us wouldn’t be here tonight if it wasn’t for Del Malloy. For the record, these are the teams he started while he was at Bay View from 1970 through 1984: JV Basketball in 1971, Cross Country and Track and Field in 1972, Softball in 1973, Field Hockey in 1974, Volleyball in 1978, Gymnastics and Tennis in 1979. Cross Country won consecutive state championships in 1974 and 1975, producing numerous all-state and all-division runners and many Divisional titles AND they had no official uniforms, running in cutoff jeans and tee shirts! In 1976 Del became the varsity basketball coach guiding the team to the state tournament and a winning record each yea. In addition the team made 3 appearances in the state semi-finals in 8 years. Track and Field was a top five program in the state every year; despite not having access to a track or grass field for practice. He also served as head coach for field hockey, softball and volleyball to get the sports started. In 1984 he became Assistant Director of Athletics and Women’s Basketball Coach at Wheaton College promoted to Associate Director of Athletics the following year. He guided their women’s basketball team to 12 winning seasons in 14 years, with 4 conference titles and 12 post-season appearances including the NCAA Final Four in 1994 and the Sweet Sixteen in 1995. Barbara and Warren Lewis Friends and Supporters of Bay View Athletics
Barbara and Warren Lewis were Bay View parents for 32 years, from the time their daughter Susan (class of 1979) entered the kindergarten in 1966 through Tricia’s graduation in 1998. In addition to their five alumnae daughters – Susan ’79, Anne ’83, Jane ’86, Kristen ’90 and Tricia ’98 - their four sons attended kindergarten at the Bay. Four of their daughters participated in sports at Bay View. Jane in basketball and softball; Anne in gymnastics and cheerleading, Kristen in soccer and basketball and Tricia in track and basketball. This allowed the Lewises to attend literally hundreds of basketball games, softball games, gymnastics events, cheerleading competition, soccer games and track meets AND Barbara and Warren attended every possible one of them. For their dedication to athletics at Bay View, for their generosity of time and treasure, for their enthusiasm and devotion to all things relating to St. Mary Academy and for their wonderful family – Barbara and Warren Lewis are truly deserving of their induction into the Bay View Athletic Hall of Fame as Friends and Supporters of Bay View Athletics!
