Mathematics is a science with practical applications in everyday life as well as a necessary instrument for the study of the other sciences. The challenges of problem-solving and the understanding of the inherent structural beauty of mathematics contribute to the disciplined yet creative use of the mind. Cognizant of the diverse abilities, interests and needs of our individual students, the department functions on the premise that every student, in order to be successful in today’s world, needs to be proficient with basic math facts and must be adept in reasoning, in problem-solving, and in communicating mathematics. All students should have the same opportunities to learn the same mathematical curriculum. |
